Boston Bars Could Stay Open Until 3AM This Summer World Cup 2026
Boston is about to have its biggest summer in a generation. The 2026 FIFA World Cup brings matches to Gillette Stadium, millions of visitors from around the world, and now potentially the latest last call Massachusetts has ever seen.

The Bill
A proposal from Fall River Representative Carole Fiola would extend last call from 2AM to 3AM and allow cities and towns to permit drinking in public spaces like official World Cup watch parties. Cities could choose to extend hours for the entire summer, match days only, or not at all. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies this week with matches starting in about two weeks.
Philadelphia already signed similar legislation into law. Rhode Island is considering it. Boston bar owners are ready. Kevin Treanor of Phoenix Landing in Cambridge, one of the busiest soccer bars in New England, summed it up simply: “Why not, let’s have a party. It’s the World Cup.”
What It Means for Boston This Summer
Six weeks of matches. Three games a day. The largest World Cup ever with 48 nations competing. Boston is a host city and the energy this summer is going to be unlike anything the city has seen since the 2004 Red Sox.
For groups coming to Boston for bachelor party weekends built around the games, this changes the whole itinerary. Watch the match at a packed Boston bar, stay out until 3AM, and keep the party going back at your hotel or Airbnb afterward.
